苯酚 ( 又名石炭酸 ) 。苯酚是具有特殊气味的五色结晶，露于光和空气中易被氧化变为红色渐至深色。苯酚微溶于冷水。在 65 ℃ 以上时，可与水混溶，易溶于乙醇、乙醚等有机溶剂。酚有毒性，可作防腐剂和消毒剂。在工业上，苯酚的用途很广，是有机合成的重要原料，大量用于制造酚醛树脂，环氧树脂及其他高分子材料、药物、染料、炸药等。

苯酚 ( 别名石炭酸，Pheno1) 分子式 C6H5OH ，相对分子质量94.12 。纯粹的苯酚是白色结晶体。露置于空气中及光线的作用，即变成淡红色甚至红色。相对密度 (d204 )1.0576 ，熔点41 ℃，沸点181.75 ℃ 。苯酚能自空气中吸收水分而液化，有强烈的特殊气味，腐蚀性极强，具有刺激性和毒性。苯酚能溶于水，呈酸性反应。能溶于乙醇、氯仿和二硫化碳，易溶于乙醚，与丙酮、苯和四氯化碳可以任何比例混合。是生产酚系减水剂和氨基磺酸盐减水剂的原料，也可作为生产引气剂的原料。
