Nepal restricts power to cement plant –halts production
(Nepal) -- Udaypur Cement has frozen its production during the last six days due to prolonged load-shedding.
Even though The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is supplying power to the factory, it has brought little respite as the supply is only for 7 hours in a day.
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) had earlier committed to provide 10 MW of electricity to the factory round the clock.
The factory is totally bereft of electricity on Thursdays and Fridays.
The incapacitating power shortage has led to a staggering loss of Rs 4.5 million to Rs 5 million per day for Udaypur Cement, the country’s largest cement producer.
